How much does it cost to charter a 100 meters yacht?
A meters yacht falls into the mega-yacht category, which, in practical terms, functions more like a private cruise ship than a recreational vessel. Charter rates typically start at around €1,000,000 per week and can rise to several million euros per week for the most iconic and recently built yachts, depending on the season, year of construction, shipyard, crew size, destination and availability.
To illustrate: a meters mega-yacht with room for 36 guests and 54 crew members starts at around €3,500,000 per week. For meters yachts, the price range is lower, but still well over a million per week. During the high season in the Mediterranean or the Caribbean, rates are higher and stricter cancellation and mooring conditions apply. WI Yachts
Day charters for yachts of this size are very rare. For this class, a week-long charter is the norm and offers the best value and availability.
What does the total price consist of?
Charter price
The basic charter fee for the yacht with a full crew. This covers, amongst other things, the use of the yacht, the crew, standard linen, basic insurance and the day-to-day operation of the on-board facilities.
VAT
VAT depends on the cruising area and local legislation. Within the EU, this usually varies between approximately 15 and 22 per cent of (part of) the charter price. Outside the EU, VAT may not apply or may be calculated differently. We will advise you in advance on the applicable VAT regime for your route.
APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance)
For operational expenses such as fuel, harbour fees, provisions, drinks, local taxes and logistics. Allow for 30 to 40 per cent of the charter price. For large motor yachts with high fuel consumption, the APA is often at the upper end of this range. The skipper keeps track of all expenses; these are settled at the end of the charter and any unused balance is refunded to you.
Tips for the crew
Not compulsory but customary following a successful charter. As a guideline, 10 to 15 per cent of the charter price, at your discretion and depending on the quality of service. On a large yacht with a sizeable crew, this can make a significant dent in the overall budget.
Port and mooring fees, fuel and travel
Mooring fees vary by port and season and are substantial for a meters yacht. Fuel consumption depends on cruising speed, distance travelled and the type of yacht. A delivery or redelivery fee may sometimes apply if the yacht needs to be transported to your port of departure or destination.
Extras
Special requests such as premium wines, on-board events, rare ingredients, new water play equipment or wellness packages are covered by the APA. We will discuss these with you in advance to avoid any surprises.
What is included in the rental price?
- Full professional crew tailored to the yacht and your party.

Factors influencing the charter price
Season
High season on the Côte d’Azur, in Sardinia, the Balearic Islands or the Greek islands involves higher rates and stricter cancellation and mooring conditions. Low season offers more competitive prices and greater flexibility.
Destination and route
Popular marinas have higher mooring fees and are in high demand. Furthermore, not every marina is accessible to a meters yacht, which influences the choice of route. Smart route planning, incorporating alternative marinas, can help keep costs down without compromising on the experience.
Age, builder and refit
Newer or recently refitted mega-yachts and iconic shipyards command a premium rate. A well-maintained, slightly older yacht can be more attractively priced.
Capacity and layout
More cabins and crew members enhance comfort and service, but also increase the budget. On a yacht of this size, the crew is large, which affects both the charter price and the tips.
Charter duration and availability
Weekly charters are the norm for this class. Booking early gives you more choice and avoids delivery charges.
Tips to optimise costs
- Book well in advance to claim the best combinations of yacht, dates and ports.
- Agree sailing speeds and distances with captain to reduce fuel consumption.
- Choose start and end ports that minimise delivery costs.
- Let our chef plan menus and supplies in advance based on preferences and budget.
- Consider shoulder seasons for quieter ports and more attractive rates.
